Birdie Log Cabin

In case you haven’t guessed I love love love strip piecing. One of my favourite ways to highlight a cute print is to log cabin around it. I had an off cut of the Leanika Lovebirds fabric and decided to make a pretty wall hanging from it. Other fabrics by Denyse Schmidt, Michael Miller and Tanya Whelan seemed to match up with the colours used in the print. All of the fabric used are scraps hence the thick and thin log cabin strips. As there was some fabric left over I added the border, which also worked well to accentuate the off centre block. It is more muted than my usual work but I am happy with it.

Have finally put those pictures on! Thanks for your comments on the piecing, I am amazed it ended up straight as I made the top in front of Take Me Out on a Saturday night back in April, I’m so rock and roll on Saturdays!
