Sandown Hangover

I now have so much respect for those who do the show circuit – after 4 days of to and froing to Surrey I am shattered!  i did enjoy it though, and it was great meeting people all weekend.   We were lucky to have such a friendly neighbour in Mandy Shaw.  You may recognise her from Kirsties Handmade Christmas programme where she made a patchwork stocking (these are being repeated on More4 at the moment).  I loved her flag quilt which was hanging between our stands – the pattern is just £6.  Her website is http://www.dandeliondesigns.co.uk/  in case you fancy a peek.  She is down at Glasto this week doing bunting classes for those who wish to glamp up their tent – did I not tell you these quilting ladies have stamina!  Here is a picture of her lovely stand.

It was also good meeting some other quilt shops – the ladies opposite us fromPatchwork Cabin were really friendly – check out the applique block of the month on their site.  After looking at that for 3 days I had to control myself not to add something else to the “to do” sewing list!  http://www.patchworkcabin.co.uk/index.php

I treated myself to a few fabrics, some rayon thread and the latest copy of the Interweave Stitch magazine.  Being at a racetrack I spotted a Gamcare poster advertising its helpline – it is a charity for those having problems with gambling.  I was very tempted to mock up a poster for Fabcare – a support line for those addicted to fabric.  Trouble is, I would be the first caller…!

So sorry Sarah – the photos and text didn;t load correctly! I have added in the text again – the stand is Mandy’s – isn’t it gorgeous! I’ll reload the Maisy ones tomorrow. It was a simple quilt, but kept going to the bottom of the sewing pile so feel relieved to have finally put the binding on and displayed it – poor thing.

Glad you had a good one – I love Mandy, she’s a real star, and she knows Kirstie!
