in case you aren’t on the shop email list, I have cut and pasted todays newsletter below.
We have lots of news for you!
Hope you had a good summer, we feel like we may have swayed the weather by receiving a delivery of grey Denyse Schmidt fabric from her Hope Valley range mid August. Next year we will order in lots of yellows and oranges and hopefully encourage a better summer!
It is the Hever quilt show this weekend. The show is run by Region 2 of the Quilter’s Guild, which covers Sussex, Kent and Surrey. The quilts are exhibited in a marquee in the grounds, and when the weather is good it is a lovely day out as you can also look round the gardens. More details will be on the Hever Castle website.
We have a couple of courses starting this month. Next week our Hexagons Go Large course has it’s first session on Thursday, and the following week Tuesday morning strip club with Sara will be starting. This is at our local Church which means there is plenty of room to spread out. You don’t have to use jelly rolls – if you have some fabrics in your stash you have been desperate to use then you can cut them into strips yourself. We have attached a course list for you, but if you would like more details let us know.
This months Quilt Salon is on Friday 24th on the topic of Quilting Magazines. If you haven’t been before these informal sessions are a place to come and chat about quilting. The cost is £6 which includes a glass of wine – a lovely way to unwind and chat about sewing at the end of the week.
Quilt Group – this fortnightly group is starting next Wednesday evening and runs from 7.45 to 9.45. You bring along your sewing, and we provide the tea, coffee and biscuits. We ask you to pre-book due to limited space in the shop, but feel free to call and book in on the day if you wish. It is £3.50 per session.
Other deliveries we have had in include perle number 8 threads (as recommended in the Material Obsession books), fancy scissors and cupcake and cherry fabrics. As ever, if you cannot find what you are looking for let us know and we will do our best to source it for you.
Finally, we have an accuquilt die cutting machine in the shop (still in it’s box at the mo as Mr Parcelforce has just been). Once we have got it set up feel free to come in a see how they work and have a go yourself. These caused quite a buzz at the Festival of Quilts this year. If you would like to order one through the shop, we will be offering a discount for a limited time.
Liz and Sue
PS. The new website should hopefully be up and running at the end of the month. We’ll let you know when, but till then you can keep up to date via the blog https://quiltypleasures.wordpress.com/
